Hornady ELD (Extremely Low Drag) Match bullets are fiercely accurate and consistent, and are perfect for serious competitors. The ELD projectile is streamlined and fitted with heat-resistant technology to keep its accuracy true and its ballistic coefficients superior. 

  • During the research and development stages for this cartridge, Hornady was using Doppler Radar to measure how heat deforms the projectile tip (meplat: the technical term for the bullet tip) during flight. They determined that adding special heat-resistant material to the tip of the projectile could significantly boost their ballistic coefficient and accuracy. This resulted in the Heat Shield tip.
  • Decades of precise Hornady ballistic research provides the most streamlined possible secant ogive bullet shape, with a refined boat tail design. This profile, in combination with the consistent Heat Shield Meplat, gives shooters the match-grade projectile they want.
